Luchien is wearing a straw hat and holding a watering can. Gabin mocks his rustic look. Luchien puts water into a small hole. Then he puts in a seed and closes it with dirt. He sprinkles some more water on it. He puts a sign beside it, on which he has drawn a carrot. Gabin looks up at the sign to see what is written on it. A noise is heard “SCHLOUUP”. Gabin looks down to find a carrot has grown. It is too small. He places a seed in the hole, closes it and sprinkles water on it. They wait. He impatiently taps his foot. “SCHLOUUP” a big carrot pops out of the ground. Luchien seizes it and Gabin watches, satisfied. Luchien throws the carrot away. Leaving the hole. Gabin does not understand.
